MENS CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES 

The Gordon Garrett Cup 

KEITH BRINSMEAD

The green made both players think very hard about the best way to bowl in this final. It was fairly evenly matched up to around 15 all but Keith edged away from opponent Chris Ide and finished the winner 21-16. This was Keith's third Singles Championship

Amber Logan rounded off a successful bowls season by beating Sandy Lay-Flurrie 21-18. Sandy made most of the front running but the tactical change to shorter jacks was the route to success for Amber.

STUART LOGAN & STUART SHWARTZ

This was the third consecutive year for Stuart Logan and Stuart Shwartz. This year they won against the opposition of surprise but deserved finalists,  Steve Davis and Chris Salt.

Derek Meechan had little enthusiasm for another game after a hard hot day on the green on Saturday. So the Sunday morning match went to Ian Robertson by  score of 15-12

Eric Charnock Cup

CHRIS IDE

Chris Ide set the early pace with a 7-0 shot lead but was overhauled in the first set by Derek Meechan. Chris rallied to level the match on sets and won the first 2 tie break ends to land the title

Butch Shakespeare won the Committee Singles at his first attempt, He beat Nick Eager 21-15 to add to the 2 Wood Pairs won the previous day

Heppenstall Cup

DEREK MEECHAN

Derek Meechan and Butch Shakespeare produced some excellent bowls in an entertaining final.

Steve Davis and Ray Baker were always in control and doing just enough to edge away from Nick Eager and Geoff Sheldon. The final score was 19-14

Keith and Butch won well and were comfortably ahead at the end against Nick Eager and Amber Logan

Chris Keith and Mike repeated their success of the previous year. All 3 played well throughout the competition and were good value for their win in the final

In the final they played Alan Messer, Derek Meechan and Roy Bland - winning comfortably with an end to spare.

VETERANS HC SINGLES

The Platt Cup

Appropriately the two oldest playing members of the club met in the final of the veterans handicap. After quite a few years as the bridesmaid - it was Roy's turn to win this year against first time finalist, Robin Saunders

Another couple of fun, but keenly competitive evenings. Mal Spier couldn't make the final as he badly injured his shoulder but David Fairs was a very solid replacement for the wnners

The Atkins Trophy is now back with its rightful place on our club playing schedule. It allows our newer bowlers to learn their bowling art in a competitive framework. The trophy was won by Mike Webster winning his first individual trophy  at Priory

MONDAY NIGHT TRIPLES LEAGUE

The Dave Evans Cup

Keith Brinsmead, Amber Logan, Mike Belton, Becks Bull and Mark Simmonds

The triples league was as ever keenly contested until the last match. This year the teams took on animal characteristics and this years winners were the Alligators

THE AGGREGATE LEAGUE

David Fairs

The Aggregate League attracted more players than ever this year and the cream at the top went to a very consistent David Fairs. The runners up money was won by Mark Harwood
