2016 was another remarkable year in the 'Counties' for Priory. Derek Meechan followed Stuart Shwartz's 2015 success become Sussex Unbadged Singles Champion 2016. Keth Brinsmead and Jon Clear reached the Area FINAL of the Pairs. Nick Eager, Emilio Dipetro and John Hobbs got to the QUARTER FINALS of the Triples. David Fairs, John Schools, John Fairs and Wally Burrows reached the County SEMI FINALs in the Fours. A Fantastic effort - brilliant work by the Priory boys! Check out the draws for 2017 on the SCB competition page.

Stuart Shwart had a chance of National Glory playing at Leamington Spa after winning through the Sussex qualifier in the Champion of Champions

Lest we forget . . .

Stan had two spells with Tarring Priory. He first joined the Priory on 25th February 1995 and after 12 years with us, he left our club in 2007 to join Worthing BC, but he was always a Priory man at heart. He re-joined us on the 28 February 2012 and played regularly until he retired due to ill health in the 2015 season. Stan was a quality bowler and was a regular for the first team and represented the club in league, county and national comps. He was a Vice Captain for the years 2002 & 2003 and also our Catering Officer in 2003. Stan does not appear many times on the honours board in the Priory Pavilion - only winning one competitiion in his years with us. Typically though he won the important ones - and he was crowned Club Singles Champion in 2013.

John was a member of our club for 35 seasons. He first joined us as a bowler in 1981. He served the club on the governing Committee for 3 years from 2001. John was always a regular in friendly sides and an occasional player in League games. He very much liked the evening Triples League and was in winning teams in 1998, 1999 and most recently in 2014. Just a couple of days before his unexpected death he played in a Spoons match winning 23-15, recording a Top Rink which also placed him at the Top of the Atkins League. People always remember your last woods John.John's funeral took place at Worthing Crematorium on Monday the 4th July at 12.40pm. A wake in his honour was held at Ferring Village hall.

1933 - 2016

Peter joined Priory in 1984 and was a regular participant with the 'Friday Spooners' for many years. Indeed, he was the Atkins 'Spoons' League Winner in 2004. He played well into his nineties and will be remembered for his abililty to lead accurately with his swinging woods. He always had a good word for his fellow players and was well thought of by all the Priory members who were privileged to know him.

Peter's memorial service took place on May 16th at St Marys Church, Goring- by-Sea and later at Worthing Crematorium. A wake in his honour was held after the services at Worthing Indoor Bowling Club.
